We stayed at the Hawthorns Hotel, owned by Simon Sturt – Winner and Finalist of Uncle Ben’s Curry pub of the year and runner-up of the prestigious Sharwood’s Pub of the Year Award. The currys were amazing!

This group of buildings dates back to around the 11th Century, when Glastonbury was a major pilgrimage destination. It was at first a Hospital for up to 13 sick men with a Chapel (all paid for by Queen Margaret of Scotland).

Entrance to the Chalice Well . Chalice Well is one of Britain’s most ancient wells, nestling in the Vale of Avalon between the famous Glastonbury Tor and Chalice Hill.

The Vesica Piscis is an ancient sacred symbol of two interlocking circles where the circumference of one circle goes through the center of another identical circle. Its geometry symbolises a union, of heaven and earth or spirit and matter and appears throughout the gardens.

Sit amidst the white flower borders of the Sanctuary, a wonderful place to let the sun warm your face and soak up the healing energies of the Chalice Well.

The water describes a figure of eight in each of the flow form into seven bowls and its rhythm mirrors the swirling eddies of natural mountain streams as it falls into the Vesica Pool

The Tor has been called Ynys yr Afalon (meaning "The Isle of Avalon") and is believed by some, to be the Avalon of Arthurian legend.
Glastonbury Tor is known as being one of the most spiritual sites in the country. Its pagan beliefs are still very much celebrated. The Tor and other sites in Glastonbury have also been significant in Goddess worship, with the flow from the Chalice Well representing menstrual flow and the Tor being seen as either a breast or the whole figure of the Goddess.  The Tor has been called Ynys yr Afalon (meaning “The Isle of Avalon”) and is believed by some, to be the Avalon of Arthurian legend.
